Workshops by Ministry of Foreign Affairs and NATO

On Tuesday, the Dutch Ministry of Foreign Affairs will invite us to tackle an important case: the Nile-region. Apart from insights as to how the Dutch government tries to alleviate conflict in the region light will also be shed on inter-state cooperation between African countries involved. Furthermore, we have started a partnership with NATO. On Tuesday, an expert of the Science for Peace and Security (SPS) Programme will guide us through their objectives and goals. A professor from Leiden University is very willing to organise a workshop on Wednesday in which he will critically reflect on the concept of human rights and its relevance regarding water. Is promoting water as a human right indeed the best solution?

Academic Conference Excursions

During the AC-GA Conference two excursions will be organised. The first one, on Monday, features a coastal protection work in Noordwijk and a pumping station in Katwijk. This excursion will show you what kind of practical solutions have been taken in order to secure low-lying areas. In addition, given the increased likelihood of water threats due to our changing climate, it will become visible how to respond to future challenges. On Tuesday, a short excursion is scheduled at the centre of politics in the Netherlands, the "Binnenhof". Here you will visit the "Ridderzaal" (Knights Hall) through a guided tour.
